Not to beat a dead horse, but to breath life into a non-existent one;as noted earlier, UT Men's basketball now have their own twitter site, as does MAC Men's BBall. I am all for the rebuilding, strengthening of our men's bball program. However, when I stumbled across another UTMen's BB Twitter site, not enabled yet, which claims it will carry live updates from the men's games, I have to remark on the Men and Women's program disparaties again.
Other than Tricia's coach twitter site, the UTWBB program(and MACWBB program) has no twitter site, which gives immediate updates on recruits, transfers, injuries, recoveries, game outcomes, awards, etc...
If twittered live from a game, a UTWBB twitter site will give play by play updates to those unable to attend, on out of town games, to MAC followers living elsewhere, keep team family members updated, capture new fans, etc...
Twitter could be an overall continual promo of both UT and the Women's BBall team, which is not covered very extensively(or at all) by the MAC-sponsored sports websites, blogs, or new MBB twitter sites. Twitter is the most recent, informational and immediately engaging technology used locally, countrywide, and globally in it's reach.
If an arguement is made about the ability for WBB fans to buy into $$ JUMP PC downloads, watch NCAA Courtside, listen to the radio, then it is only fair to use the same financial arguement regarding men's sports, in this case UTMBB.
The UT WBB program was #48 in the NCAA last year in attendance, and has been historically highest in the MAC in WBB attendance and support for years. This (twitter) is only another tool to build upon and increase that support, both locally and nationally. |
